Hi. My name is James and I’m currently going through the Digital Media program here at College of the Redwoods. So far, in addition to my general education requirements, I’ve also taken classes covering a majority of the Adobe suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, Flash and Dreamweaver. In addition to the Digital Media certificate I’ve also taken classes in 3D Studio Max, traditional animation, various art courses, and pretty much anything else that I think might be able to help me in the long run. I think this is a great program with some excellent instructors. Clyde Johnson, for example, is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. He’s always on top of things, and always prepared, and I usually get more out of his courses than I do most of my others. Recently I got an internship at Caltrans doing graphic design work, and the knowledge I’ve acquired here at College of the Redwoods has just been invaluable to me. It’s the first real world position I’ve had in my chosen field, and it’s going so well that I’m considering it as a long term career possibility. I know that if it weren’t for CR I wouldn’t have gotten the job. All in all I would have to say that the Digital Media degree has worked out really well for me. I would recommend it to anyone considering a career in the digital realm.
