Canon Multi-page scanner - basic instructions for DM24B
1. Turn on scanner power button (bottom left)
2. Open top tray and place 2 or 3 drawings in landscape view,
top of drawing facing up-into scanner
3. Use the top green button to open scanner software
In scanner software:
4. Go to Options>Tiff File>Grayscale Compression > None
5. Go to Scan>Scanner Settings,
change Mode to Black and White
Verify Page Size for Letter (Rotated) - 11x8.5
Set Dots per inch at 300 for high resolution, 150 for lower resolution

6. In the same window, click More,
in Advanced Settings, click Filter
7. In Filter settings check Punch Hole Removal, Border Removal,
and Color drop-out
> Drop-out Color Red
(note: registration marks and drawing number need to
be in black pencil so they are included in the scan)

8. Ready to scan. Use the top menu to Scan>Scan
Batch to File
9. For the scan file locations, create a folder in My Documents,
name the first picture as 1, or whatever is appropriate with a number
10. After scanning, look at the files. They should be tif
format and show lines clearly, and/or as you want them to show for the raster
to vector conversion in ToomBoom. If you want to make adjustments to how the
scans come out, put the pages back in the tray. In the scanner settings window,
try adjusting the Brightness and Contrast sliders. You should still see one
of your scans in the software window so can get an estimated preview of the
adjustments.
11. Once you've got the set-up for your
drawings, put all pages in the scanner tray with number 1 on top. Use
the top menu to Scan>Scan Batch to File
12. Be sure to turn off the scanner
when you are finished, collect your drawings, and close the scanner
tray. Also, copy your files so you can take them with you.
